What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.


Over the past 13 years, that simple idea has become a global movement that inspires millions of people to donate, volunteer, and advocate for causes that matter to them.

In 2024 alone, more than 36.1 million people in the U.S. participated in GivingTuesday, and the #GivingTuesday hashtag was used over 2 million times on social media — proof that generosity connects people everywhere.

This movement is built on one truth: when we give together, we create change together.

For more than a decade, the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable (MS BWR) has worked to uplift women and girls, strengthen families, and empower communities across our state.

From fighting for equitable and higher wages, child care, healthcare to building leadership and protecting the right to vote, MS BWR is committed to ensuring that Mississippi Black women and girls not only have a voice — but are heard, valued, and supported.
