The Power of Us: Together We Can Shift Power and Create Change

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for each of you. Your unwavering commitment to the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable (MS BWR) has been nothing short of inspiring. Throughout this year, and especially in the months leading up to the recent presidential election, your dedication to empowering our communities and mobilizing voters has been a testament to the strength of our collective spirit.

I know many of us feel a deep fatigue after working tirelessly to get voters to the polls. And I know that the results of the election have left many of you feeling disappointed, heartbroken even. But let me remind you of something powerful: no matter who sits in the White House, we hold the power in our hands to create change from the ground up. From a grassroots perspective, we’ve always known that lasting impact starts with us. Together, we’ve shown that when Black women lead, our communities thrive. That we believe in the Power of Us.

And so, looking ahead, I invite you to join us in continuing this important work by supporting MS BWR in our first real push for individual donors and organizational contributions. Your support directly fuels the critical programs and initiatives that empower Black women, girls, and families across Mississippi.

With your help, we can continue to:

  • Champion policies that promote racial, economic, and gender justice
  • Equip and empower leaders through community education and training
  • Strengthen the voices of Black women in decision-making spaces
  • Provide advocacy and support for equitable health care access
  • Encourage civic engagement and voter participation at every level

As we prepare for the year ahead, I’m reminded of the resilience and determination that define who we are. With your continued support, MS BWR will keep pushing for justice and building a brighter future for our communities—just as we always have and always will.

Thank you for walking this journey with us. I wish you and your loved ones joyous and restful holidays. Together, let’s carry this spirit of gratitude and action into the new year.

In the Work,
Cassandra Welchlin
